- This database contains records on deceased individuals whose death was reported to the Social Security Administration Office.

- You may enter the name you are searching in any order. However, you should NOT include a Middle Initial or Middle Name in this search. For example, Charles Thomas can be entered as Charles Thomas or Thomas Charles.

- You do not have to enter a last name and first name. If you chose, you can enter a last name only; but be aware of the large amount of search results that may be returned. You may also enter the first name only.

- You can search by suffix or titles. (i.e. JR, SR, III, etc.) For example, Charles Thomas III could be searched and you will only find matches with Charles Thomas III in your results.

- You do not have to enter any punctuation. Punctuation is stripped from a search if it is entered.

- You may enter information in any of the fields in any combination. Enter information in one or more fields provided.

- Choose the All States option to search available jurisdictions, if you do not know which state to select.

- Your results will be sorted alphabetically by state if you chose to search "All-States". At this time, there is no additional sort order. Scroll through the results to find the individual you are trying to locate. You may try variations of the name by using modify search link at the top of the page if you are having difficulty in finding the individual on your first attempt.

- When searching by social security number, you must enter the entire number (no spaces, but dashes are acceptable).
